Camping | Friends | Travel | Connect The other weekend we took a trip up to Washington to go camping. We decided to go to Riffe Lake Campground as it seemed like a good spot to camp and wasn’t too far of a drive. So we packed up Thursday and headed out Friday

Paddle Boarding On The Silverton Reservoir

Home BLOG POST’S Contact About Home BLOG POST’S Contact About Paddle Boarding On The Silverton Reservoir Todays paddle boarding trip went awesome! This was all of our first time going to Silverton Reservoir and it won’t be our last. The water was nice and calm with a great surrounding of wildlife. We arrived at 10:15am to a half empty parking lot and very few people on the water. A View of Silverton Reservoir PREPARING Estefana and I arrived before my Aunt so we began pumping ahead of time! To park here you will need a parking permit, which can be purchased at the KIOSK in the parking lot. After getting the paddle boards pumped up and ready we hauled them down to the put in. We were concerned about air quality as there had been wildfires near by but you can see in the pictures that it was pretty clear. GET A PARKING PERMIT Buy a one-day parking permit Daily parking fees are payable by debit or credit card, at the kiosk located in the Marine Park parking lot. Daily Parking Fees $5.00 Personal Vehicle, Commercial Vehicles and Buses About The Silverton Reservoir This reservoir is well maintained and is a pleasure to visit. The water level was low today as there hasn’t been any rain for weeks. Most of the people we saw, where here to fish; although, as noon came around more paddle boards and kayaks started showing up. We finished jout snack and kombucha on the paddle boards then turned around and headed back. No gas motors are allowed on the lake.  There are no swimming facilities.  View Silverton Reservoir & Marine Park Map and Rules above. The Northwest 2021 Heat Wave

Cooling Centers | Record | Hottest Location If you live in the Northwest part of the U.S.A you are hopefully in a cool room inside with an AC. Now if that’s not the case, keep reading. Sunday was the record breaking heat wave that domed over the North West. Temperatures of 100+ degrees filled the air. The National Weather Service released Excessive Heat Warnings in parts of Oregon and Washington on Monday. Portland Cooling Centers have been opened up for those who need rest and relief from the extreme heat.

Skagit Valley College Tour

Skagit Valley College is where I will be achieving my AAS degree in Multimedia and Web Design. Most of my time taking classes here has off campus. In fact, I’ll be obtaining the degree without taking a single in-person class! It has worked out very well for myself. Anyways, below is a video tour of the Skagit Valley College Campus. Created by one of my instructors. Enjoy. Interested in taking classes at Skagit Valley College? Click the button to below to sign up for classes.

Some Traveling Info. | Van life

Traveling the world and going to the most beautiful places is something that most everyone would like to do.. Most people I talk to say that traveling has changed their lives. Creating the opportunity to see and experience new places, cultures, and ways of life is something that I want to setup for myself. Although I would prefer to travel with a portable home. So I searched out to find some info and answers to my questions. I’ve listened to a few podcasts, read some articles, and watched some videos of frequent travelers. Throughout my learnings I have found that there is so much to consider when planning to travel. Whether its the vehicle, destination, finances, food, sleeping locations, and the list goes on. Before writing this post I listened to a podcast where the issue of rest areas are brought up. He talks about the different laws that each state has that is related to rest areas. Is also a great example of just another thing you must prepare yourself for before traveling. Its great information for Vandwellers or just the casual driver that needs to pull over to rest for the night. Your welcome to check it out here Built To Go! A #Vanlife Podcast by Jeff Wagg.

Creating new connections and new experiences have been some of the key factors I’ve done for myself to help me decide on what to pursue. Which is to create a career that allows me to work remotely. So please comment your thoughts and ideas if your a web designer, marketer, game designer, graphic designer, or anyone with good advice. Coding up a great multi platform design with the front end code languages (CSS, HTML, and most JavaScript) is something that I know how to do. I’ve made a few decent website and templates. Here are a few of my websites. Although, I feel mixed on what I should learn next, learning some more languages on the back end of web development might be a good route to go. Just need to decide on what languages to learn. Obtaining income remotely (or passively) is something that I’ve been researching for a while and it absolutely catches my interest. There is so much opportunity and freedom that working remotely and gaining passive income can provide. Tell me what you know about passive income, or what advice you have? First Covid Shot | Saturday Salem Market

Home BLOG POST’S Contact About Home BLOG POST’S Contact About First Covid Shot Today I woke up ready to see my Aunt Carol & to get my first covid shot. My appointment was at 10:45, but ended up waiting in line until 12 o’clock to receive my dose due to how many people were there. My arm feels a little sore now, but its worth the protection of myself and the ones I care for. Its really great to have the option to get the vaccine, and for free! Just after the vaccine. Was rainy a day out at the Oregon State Fairground in Salem. After the vaccine I went to meet with the best Aunt out there, Aunt Carol. She was in Salem doing some work so we made time to get together. We caught a break of the rain and decided to go to the Saturday Salem Market. The rain had made everyone leave the market so it was nice and uncrowded. It’s so cool to check out everyone’s hard earned and crafted businesses, trinkets, accessories, foods, and almost anything at markets like these. There weren’t to many tents out due to the rain but we still went by and looked at every one. Aunt Carol and I got a bite to eat and then made plans for when to meet next. My Blog Ideas

Figured I would go ahead and blog what I intend to put in this Holt’s Blog. My idea is to create three sections: Personal, Business, and Goals. With these sections I will have categories to keep my posts and content organized. Hopefully that will help me be more consistent on making content. I already have the urge to get some content into these sections. Feel free to comment any questions, comments, or concerns you may have about this blog or any of my ideas that I’ve mentioned. Thanks!
